Have you ever read a book and found yourself imagining how the story would go if you were a character in it? Perhaps you imagine yourself as the hero, or the hero's love interest, or perhaps even the villain? Or maybe you would prefer to be that one person who knew everything ahead of the rest of the characters–the wisest, or most powerful of them all?
Perhaps you've taken it further and written your own fan-fiction to live out this fantasy. Or perhaps you've found one of those write-your-own-story apps where all you have to do is select a few options to create the story, giving your name to the main character.
But it's not the same, is it? It's nothing like being a part of your favourite romance novel or epic fantasy.

Stephen Hayes is an author from Australia who writes novels (usually quite long) in the young adult fantasy/scifi genres. He is no stranger to the idea of being a character in a book because he has imagined the same thing in his reading, and now he wants to give you that very chance–or something very close to it.
Yes, the next time you pick up one of Stephen's books, there's a chance you'll find yourself as one of the main characters, if you like. Or maybe it won't be exactly you, but an improved version of you–the you that you wish you were. It's your fantasy, isn't it, so why not?
So How Does It Work?
It couldn't be any more simple:

- Click the ‘Characters’ link at the top of the page. This will show you a list of any characters you have previously created.
- Before you proceed, you should familiarise yourself with the Disclaimer, Terms of Use and Privacy Policy to be sure you understand what to expect.
- Click the ‘Create a New Character’ link.
- Fill out the basic details for your character to create the profile.
- From there, you may add as much or as little detail as you wish.
- Create as many characters as you wish.
If you are fortunate, one of your characters may be selected to be in one of Stephen's books.
